All slots filled /Hike - Mt St Helens Boundary to Hummocks trail

Hike from Loowit viewpoint Trailhead 3.1 miles downhill to the Hummocks Trail loop ( 2.4 miles ). We will do a car shuttle leaving a few cars at the Hummocks TH so that after the loop hike we don't have to climb 1500' back up to Loowit TH.

The Boundary is very exposed - no shade, so hats and sunscreen, plenty of water and trail snacks are required, hiking poles are optional.

The Hummocks trail is pretty shaded, and a wonderful display of the natural restoration of the blast zone.

To hike , everybody will need a permit, either NW Forestry or the Interagency.
The JRO visitor site wants you to show the pass at the building entrance and you will be issued a wrist band. The NW Forestry pass is good for one person (so if you are carpooling each person should have their own pass). The interagency pass is good for 4 family members.

We will start the day meeting at the Salmon Creek Park and Ride in Vancouver at 8:30. Then drive to Hummocks TH to drop a few cars, then drive up to Loowit viewpoint to begin hike . Or IF people would like to first visit the very cool observatory on Johnson Ridge (JRO), we could spend an hour hanging out before we hike down the hill.
